On September 18 thru 20th I attended the Orion Ascent 2017 Conference at Scottsdale, AZ and had a great time it was both informative and enjoyable. The conference was broken up into learning trails in which I participated in the developers learning trail. The developers learning trail was mainly made up of sessions on how to utilize and integrate the Orion API.
The session were short 30 minutes which kept things interesting and by utilizing the conference mobile app for questions kept things moving and on topic. Some of the highlights included the WordPress plugin which would allow integration with a firm’s marketing websites with Orion content relatively straight forward and without major support headaches. Another interesting session discussed how to integrate insight widgets into a website which could be extremely useful considering how simple it would be to include advance content without major development.
There was also a product announcement of a new onboarding portal with support from current partner Mineral Interactive, a digital design and marketing firm. The Prospect Portal will give advisors on Orion’s platform a customizable way to collect information from prospects, along with a streamlined view of the account activity.
The conference highlight was the inspiring keynote speaker Hilaree O’Neill who is the first woman to summit Mt. Everest and its neighbor peak Lhotse (4th highest mountain in the world) in a 24-hour period.
Another outstanding feature of the conference was the Ascent Consultation Support room. It was staffed with very knowledgeable personnel and if they did not know your question they found someone that did. I saw this first hand with one of my clients who had several nagging issues solved. Overall the conference was a success and I look forward to next years.
